Kamiji powers her way to first Wimbledon title!
Yui Kamiji has etched her name into tennis history, capturing her maiden Wimbledon wheelchair singles title to complete the coveted Career Golden Slam.
The Japanese star delivered a flawless performance on the grass courts of the All England Club, defeating long-time rival Diede de Groot 6-0, 6-0 in a stunning championship display. The victory not only secured Kamiji's first Wimbledon singles crown but also completed her collection of all four Grand Slam singles titles, alongside Paralympic gold, making her one of the few players in wheelchair tennis history to achieve the Career Golden Slam.
Having previously lifted the Australian Open, Roland-Garros and US Open singles trophies, Wimbledon had remained the one major title missing from Kamiji's remarkable career. After several near misses on the famous grass courts, the world No.1 finally completed the set, producing one of the most dominant Grand Slam finals in recent memory.
The celebrations continued as Kamiji added another Wimbledon trophy to her collection by winning the wheelchair doubles title. Showcasing the same composure and championship mentality that carried her through the singles event, she completed a memorable weekend at SW19 with two Wimbledon crowns.
